Needs
Avenger + Operations Terminal
Pay
Modest — not a top earner
Step by step
- 1Buy the Avenger and the Operations Terminal. Charlie Reed calls to introduce the Los Santos Angels.
- 2Enter your Avenger and use the Operations Terminal in the hold.
- 3Launch "Reporting for Duty". The missions unlock in order.
Common mistakes
- Buying an Avenger just for Project Overthrow — the payout won't cover it.
- Running the later missions solo without turret and jammer upgrades.
- Playing outside a 2x or 1.5x bonus week.
Section 01
What you need
Project Overthrow runs entirely from the Avenger, so the plane and its Operations Terminal are the entry ticket.
- An Avenger (Warstock Cache & Carry, from GTA$3,450,000).
- The Avenger's Operations Terminal upgrade, also from Warstock. Avenger plus terminal runs about GTA$4.9M at full price.
- Recommended, not required: Avenger turret and missile-jammer upgrades, a Heavy Sniper Mk II with thermal scope, and a weaponized ground vehicle for the on-foot sections.
Section 02
How to start
Once the terminal is installed, the missions launch from inside the Avenger.
- 1. Buy the Avenger and the Operations Terminal. Charlie Reed calls to introduce the Los Santos Angels.
- 2. Enter your Avenger and use the Operations Terminal in the hold.
- 3. Launch "Reporting for Duty". The missions unlock in order.
Section 03
The six missions, in order
Each mission unlocks the next. Play them in this order.
- 1. Reporting for Duty — Investigate Merryweather at Davis Quartz: bomb targets, clear helicopters and SAM sites, then extract the objective vehicle.
- 2. Falling In — Beat Merryweather to two crates of salvage, using the Avenger's turret cameras to scan for them.
- 3. On Parade — Fly flight tests in the F-160 Raiju, then dogfight an enemy Avenger. Finishing it unlocks the Raiju's trade price (a discount of over GTA$1.7M).
- 4. Breaking Ranks — Intercept Merryweather moving valuable tech at McKenzie Field and get the armored van out intact.
- 5. Unconventional Warfare — Stealthily rescue a hostage, then shake off the Merryweather pursuit.
- 6. Shock & Awe — The finale: a full assault on Merryweather's operation to end their hold on San Andreas.
Section 04
Solo or crew?
Every mission can be played solo, but the later missions get punishing alone because enemy waves keep coming. Two to four players makes them much smoother.
- Solo: keep the Avenger on autopilot while you use the turrets, open with thermal sniping from long range, and snack and armor up between waves.
- Crew: split roles — one pilot, one on turrets, one on the ground. Use Crew Room callouts ("Starting heist") to get everyone in at once.
Section 05
Is it worth it?
The payout is modest — the real value depends on whether you already own an Avenger.
- If you already own an Avenger: yes, once. A first full run pays roughly GTA$250K (an estimate from community playthroughs; check in game), plus the Raiju trade price and Career Progress rewards.
- If you don't own an Avenger: buying one just for Project Overthrow is a net loss. Spend the ~GTA$4.9M on a money business first.
- Best time to play: double-money weeks. Check the weekly board — Project Overthrow regularly gets 2x or 1.5x bonuses.
FAQ
How do I start Project Overthrow?
Buy an Avenger and its Operations Terminal from Warstock Cache & Carry, then start "Reporting for Duty" from the terminal inside the Avenger.

How many Project Overthrow missions are there?

Is Project Overthrow worth it?
Only if you already own an Avenger. The payout is modest, but the Raiju trade price is a strong bonus.
